Celebrating the Success of the HI Annual Elijah Nicholson Golf Outing

This year’s Golf fund raiser will allow 30 to 40 Vance County students to travel to the HBCU Annual Scholarship Festival in Virginia where the students will have an opportunity to meet with HBCU colleges and possibly obtain a scholarship.  Another important aspect of this trip is students will get to ask questions and gain insight into the colleges, work on their interviewing skills and network with other college bound students.

The HI Annual Elijah Nicholson Golf Outing this year was a tremendous success, bringing together over 30 enthusiastic golfers for a day filled with excitement, friendly competition, and lasting memories. Participants enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere, making it an unforgettable event for everyone involved.

Celebrating the Legacy of Golf Excellence

A Tribute to Pioneers who Shaped the Sport and Its Values

At the conclusion of this year’s HI Annual Elijah Nicholson Golf Outing, several distinguished senior golfers were honored for their remarkable contributions to the sport and the community. The event paid special tribute to William ‘Lil ‘Bill’ Bullock, the late David L. Ballard, Irvin ‘Bae Bae’ Stamper, and the late Elijah Nicholson, whose name the outing memorializes. Each of these men not only demonstrated exceptional skill on the golf course, but also served as ambassadors for the sport, inspiring generations to follow in their footsteps. Plagues, and/or Awards were presented to or in honor of each of these mentors.

We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the coordinators of the Golf Outing for their dedication and hard work. Special thanks go out to Mr. James ‘Head’ Williams, Mr. Clarence ‘Kip’ Hicks, Mr. Joe Allen Jr., Mr. Chester Cheek, and Mr. Bill Nicholson. Without the commitment and efforts of these gentlemen, none of this would have been possible. Their leadership and organizational skills played a crucial role in making this event a success. Note: This year’s Golf fund raiser will allow 30 to 40 Vance County students to travel to the HBCU Annual Scholarship Festival and be served two meals as opposed to 6 students who travelled in 2024
